Umani Ronchi Podere 2019 'Rich, elegant and sublime at this price!'
Umani Ronchi Podere 2019
Gino Umani Ronchi started a vineyard in 1957 in the region of Abruzzi and this red, in the appellation of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, is one of a range of wines now produced by the family. The vines are trained in a pergola style, known as tendone. This lesser-known practice means the vines grow above head height and the grapes hang in the shade of the resulting canopy. Many believe the system creates a wine where the ripeness of sugar and fruit are more closely matched...but whatever view you take the juice grown for this red is rich, elegant and full-bodied. There are hints of plum and cherry and while the finish is stuffed with fruit, it remains dry. And that makes it a bit of a classic. Drink it with roast beef, or steak from the BBQ. Have a fat glass of it and prepare to be amazed. Alc 13%. Plastic cork.
