Pouilly-Fumé, Chatelain 2018 'A classic, reliable, near-perfect Sauvignon Blanc'
Vines in this area of the Loire Valley have been grown since 1630 and this wonderful Sauvignon Blanc (all Pouilly-Fumé is Sauvignon Blanc) is run by the twelth generation of winemakers. The vines grow in clay soil with an abundance of sharp flints. The resulting juice spends three month on its lees (the sediment after pressing). A lively, intense nose of green fruit gives way to minerally notes and a hint of citrus. In short this is a classic, reliable, dry Sauvignon Blanc.
