Henri de Villamont Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2018 'Posh, sophisticated Pinot Noir'
Here's a fabuluous pinot noir from Burgundy, a wine made by Henri de Villamont in Savigny-Lès- Beaune. The juice macerates at cold temperature for four days then ferments in stainless steel vats, 50 per cent of the juice is then aged in oak barrels before the wine is bottled. This is in fact the wine maker's junior red burgundy, but it punches well above its weight and tastes like a super-expensive wine at twice the price. There's a good depth of fruit, a silky texture, it's medium bodied with just the right level of oak. Fantastic value at this price range and makes the host look extremely generous. Red wine drinkers will love it on its own in a big fat glass, but like so many pinot noirs it just loves roast chicken. Alc 13%. Cork.
