Finca La Colonia Cabernet Franc 2021 'Rich and intense; perfect with cheese'
Finca La Colonia Cabernet Franc 2021
This wine is made from grapes from 15-30 year-old vineyards in the Andean foothills of Argentina's Mendoza rewgion. At some 1000 m etres above sea leve the altitude moderates the temperature, extends the ripening season and leads to the development of colour and tannin in the region's black skinned varietals.
These wines are virtually - but not quite - organic, the grapes are hand-picked and after a first fermention are allowed a second malolactic fermantation after which 50 per cent of the the juice is aged in barrels before being blended with the other 50 per cent having done its stuff in concrete vats.
This is a bold, ripe and spicy Cabernet Franc with some subtle herby notes. But it's round, very round, very pleasing and oh my god does it like cheese.
